GREAT FISH LIGHTHOUSE
Situated 25 km from Port Alfred This lighthouse is a 9 metre octagonal masonry tower painted in vertical black and white stripes, and supports a revolving electric lantern with a radius of 32 sea miles. A lighthouse became necessary here, after the development of a harbour at the mouth of the Kowie River causing many wrecks on the 3 dangerous reefs which run out to sea.
